HMS Daring

Supporting next-generation naval vessel operation.

Commissioned in 2009, HMS Daring was the first of six Royal Navy Type 45 destroyers designed for advanced anti-air warfare operations.

The primary role of the Type 45 destroyer class is the protection of ships, carriers, auxiliaries, and merchant vessels from air, surface, and subsurface threats. The vessels were developed to meet strict Ministry of Defence requirements including shock resistance, reduced noise levels, special safety obligations, and electromagnetic compatibility standards.

As part of the onboard environmental systems package, the vessels were fitted with Hamworthy Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment systems designed to support reliable onboard wastewater processing under demanding naval operating conditions.

The Type 45 destroyers were equipped with Hamworthy MBR50N membrane bioreactor systems for advanced onboard wastewater treatment.

The system combines biological degradation and membrane separation technology to treat both grey and black water while meeting stringent discharge standards.

Designed for reliable marine operation, the MBR system delivers high-quality effluent without requiring hazardous chemical generation or addition onboard, supporting safer and more efficient vessel operation.
