Protecting what flows through every vessel.

Every vessel takes in water and produces waste. All of it must be treated, managed, and discharged to standard. If it isn’t, the consequences are immediate—detentions, fines, operational disruption, and environmental impact.
That’s where we come in.

We design, engineer, and support the systems that make sure that doesn’t happen—protecting what flows through every vessel, today and for the long haul.

Built differently, where it matters most.

Specialists

Marine water and waste is all we do. Our focus allows us to go deeper, solve faster, and stay sharper in a category where precision matters.

Integrated

From ballast water to wastewater, freshwater generation to onboard waste handling, we cover the full system. One partner. One standard. Clear accountability.

For the Long Haul

We stay with our systems—from specification and commissioning through service, retrofit, and end of life. Not a box sold and forgotten. A system owned and backed.

Two legacies. One specialist.

Hamworthy brings together the expertise of Hamworthy and Serck Como—two established names in marine engineering. Together, they form a single, focused specialist dedicated to water and waste systems for marine and offshore environments.

1841
Serck Como

Founded in 1841 in Hamburg, Serck Como began with distillers and heat exchangers before specialising in seawater evaporation systems.

Over decades, the company refined its expertise in freshwater generation, continuously improving technologies and expanding its capabilities.

Today, Serck Como designs and manufactures single- and multi-stage evaporator systems for the production of fresh water from sea, well, or industrial sources—used both onboard vessels and in land-based applications.
Its offering includes post-treatment systems, tube heat exchangers, and condensation systems, supported by a global service network and OEM spare parts supply.

1914
Hamworthy

Founded in 1914 on Poole Quay in Dorset, Hamworthy quickly established a reputation in marine engineering.

Over the decades, the business expanded through key acquisitions and continuous product development, strengthening its capabilities in fluid handling systems for marine and offshore applications.

Notable milestones include the acquisition of Svanehøj International A/S (1993), Kværner Group’s ships’ equipment division (1998), Serck Como GmbH (2006), and Baltic Design Centre Ltd (2008), enhancing both technical depth and design capability.

Protecting what flows through every vessel.

The people behind systems that hold.

Behind every system is a team responsible for keeping it running—under pressure, under scrutiny, and often far from shore.
At Hamworthy, our engineers, specialists, and service teams work together to ensure systems perform as they should—wherever our customers operate.
