Hamworthy's patented flare gas recovery system eliminates the need for continuous flaring.
The flare is the most visible sign of wasted resources and pollution from oil, gas and petrochemical plants. Our environmentally friendly system will extend the lifetime of the flare tips, saving significant maintenance costs on shutdown and flare tip replacement.
Flare gas recovery
The gas is safely and cost effectively recovered and can be utilised for other purposes. The system offers a substantial reduction in CO2 and NOxemissions.
The concept comprises flare header isolation equipment, a gas recovery system and a reliable flare gas ignition system. The flare gas recovery system will be designed to meet the specific process conditions on the plant.
The gas normally burnt in the flare can be exported, used as fuel gas, re-injected, used as feed for boilers, and recovered back into the feedstock or any other system utilising gas. Reductions achieved through the recovery can be traded under quota schemes for CO2 and NOx.
Flare gas ignition
The Flare Ignition System has been developed to guarantee safe and reliable ignition of the flare whenever required.
The Flare Ignition Cabinet is installed at a safe distance from the flare stack and a guide pipe leads to the flare tip. The system is suitable for all flare tips and may ignite several flares on one flare deck. It combines high reliability and availability over the lifetime of the facility with low maintenance requirements, and is easily retrofitted into existing installations. It does not need any pilot burners, and has no equipment on the flare deck that is sensitive to heat, such as cables, instrumentation, or electrodes.
