Hamworthy's reliquefaction system establishes a solution to liquefy the boil-off gas and return the LNG back.
Hamworthy is a leading supplier of gas carrier cargo handling technology and leading manufacturer of key cargo handling equipment.
Extensive experience with cargo systems for LPG, ethylene and LNG handling is the basis of supplying new solutions in an ever expanding technically driven environment.
Hamworthy offer an alternative propulsion system which uses far better fuel economy than steam turbines. Instead of previous practice using boil-off gas as fuel, Hamworthy’s reliquefaction system establishes a solution to liquefy the boil-off gas and return the LNG back to the cargo tanks.
Hamworthy recently secured a contract to supply LNG reliquefaction systems (LNG-RS) for LNG carriers employing dual-fuel diesel-electric (DFDE) propulsion plant. Hamworthy has already had considerable success with LNG-RS orders for LNG carriers with low-speed diesel propulsion engines, since it won a breakthrough contract in December 2004 to supply systems for the first LNG carriers to feature this type of machinery.
