Hamworthy Serck Como receive order for Multi Stage Flash evaporation plant

14.04.2008

Hamworthy received an order to supply a Multi Stage Flash (MSF) evaporation plant to a steel band galvanising plant in China.

This now marks a total of 7 evaporators of this kind that have been produced for different steel works around Europe and China.

The evaporator (with an order value of 1.6M Euros) produces 14 t/h distillate from a zink-sulphate galvanising solution. The distillate has a residual conductivity of less than 10 ms/cm, while the galvanising solution is highly concentrated at a conductivity of more than 70000 ms/cm. The 2-stage MSF evaporator is operated with free-of-charge exhaust heat released from the electro-chemical galvanising process.

The economic benefit of integrating an evaporator into the galvanising process is savings in fresh water supply, a higher efficiency of the rinsing process (due to the extremely high distillate quality) and a reduction of the waste water discharge.

“The risks and problems found in other multi-effect evaporators do not arise with flash evaporators,” Mr Haase-Camper said. “We are convinced that our MSF technology is superior to any other evaporation process”.
