Hamworthy's well-proven, multi-stage flash principle is the most reliable thermal seawater desalination process in the world and is the only evaporation principle where heat transfer and evaporation are strictly separated.
Multi-Stage Flash Evaporators:
Hamworthy designs and manufactures multi-stage flash evaporation plants which are employed for producing fresh water from sea water, well water or industrial water. A special advantage of the multi-stage flash technology is that the specific heat consumption (or thermal efficiency) can be continuously adapted to the individual requirements of each cruise vessel.

Multiple Effect Evaporators:
Hamworthy’s multiple effect evaporators are individually designed (computer-aided) to the customer’s specific requirements. As far as possible, standardised sizes for the evaporator and condenser vessels are used.

Plate Type Evaporators:
Hamworthy’s plate type evaporator’s process is simple, but effective. The evaporator generally utilises the waste heat from the main diesel engine jacket water. All units are subjected to a pressure/vacuum test before leaving our works.

Rising Film Evaporators:
Hamworthy’s rising film evaporators are shell and tube type, single-stage units. The sea water flows through the tubes of the vertical tube bundle while the heating medium (steam or engine jacket water) flows around the tubes.
