In the first week of June Hamworthy signed contracts totalling about US$6.4 million for eight pumproom systems, destined for products carriers and shuttle tankers on order in China and South Korea.
On 5 June, Hamworthy signed a contract to supplying six pumproom systems for six 76,000 dwt products carriers on order at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry in China for China Shipping Group. Each shipset of equipment includes three cargo pumps; drivers; stripping systems and stripping pumps; tank cleaning pumps; ballast pumps; drainage bilge pumps; and control systems. The packages will be delivered in 2008 and 2009. These ships are based on the same specifications as a series of 11 ships built for IMC and BW Shipping, for which Hamworthy also supplied pumproom packages.
The next day Hamworthy signed a contract for pumproom systems for two 109,000 dwt shuttle tankers that Teekay is building at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The contract included two options. The first two packages will be delivered in 2009.
Hamworthy’s pump room systems for discharging of tanker cargoes are complete turnkey installations including cargo control systems. The company has an unmatched capability in cargo pumping systems. “We are the only supplier that can deliver both line shaft, pumproom and submerged configurations,” said Terje Bjørnemo Hamworthy’s sales director responsible for pumproom systems. “Several thousand ships are in operation with our pumps on board”.
