Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. ("DSME") has ordered equipment for seven LNG carriers and Samsung Heavy Industries Limited ("SHI") has ordered equipment for one vessel from Hamworthy bringing a total value of over £20 million.

The equipment for all eight ships will be delivered to DSME and SHI during 2008.  The LNG carriers will serve the Qatargas 3 and 4 LNG trains.

Kelvyn Derrick, Chief Executive of Hamworthy plc, said: "We announced last August that Hyundai Heavy Industries had placed orders for three shipsets of LNG-RS which were the first incorporating our latest low energy technology.  These orders for the next eight shipsets are also for the low energy system.   These systems will contribute to a lower carbon footprint for eleven ships over decades of operation and also serve to demonstrate the competitive edge they provide for Hamworthy, our obligation is to ensure all our products meet the highest standards of compliance, today and tomorrow."
